Acanthosis nigricans is a disorder that may begin at any age and usually being of overweight. Some cases are genetically inherited. It is most common among people of African descent.Acanthosis nigricans may begin at any age. Acanthosis nigricans can affect otherwise healthy people, or it can be associated with medical problems.

What causes Acanthosis Nigricans ?

Here are the causes of Acanthosis Nigricans:

  1. Eating too much of the wrong foods, especially starches and sugars, raises insulin levels.
  2. being overweight.
  3. Some cases are genetically inherited
  4. deficiency of hormones from the adrenal gland

Acanthosis Nigricans Treatment:

Maintaining healthy skin may relieve Acanthosis Nigricans. Good skin care includes adequate nutrition and daily fluid intake, protection from the environment, and cleansing practices that don't dry the skin.

When it is caused by cancer, there may be little that can be done to prevent it until the cancer is successfully treated.
